WRGA: Clotfelter to serve 30 days in jail for vehicular homicide charge from Sept. 11 wreck that killed Amy Brigham

From WRGA:

Clotfelter

A woman accused of causing a fatal wreck in September must serve 30 days in jail and spend 24 months on probation.

Katherine Lydia Clotfelter pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and running a red light. Police said she failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Redmond Road and Veterans Memorial Highway back on September 11. The charges are misdemeanors.

Her Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed into a Chrysler Sebring driven by 48-year-old Amy Brigham. Brigham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Clotfelter asked for first offender status but that was denied by Judge Bryant Durham.

She must pay restitution of $3,260 to the victim and $3,000 to the Georgia’s Victim Compensation Fund. Her driver’s license will also be suspended for a year.

Clotfelter must report to serve her jail time at 4 p.m. on March 16.
