One man is dead following a shooting at Three Rivers Gardens Apartments off Tammassee Lane in West Rome just behind the Sam’s/Walmart campus, according to WRGA. Coroner Gene Proctor confirms the shooting victim died after being rushed to Floyd Medical Center. The man’s body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.… Read more

Former medical examiner pleads guilty in drugs-for-sex case; five co-defendants from Cartersville, Acworth also await sentencing.

Dr. Joseph L. Burton, a former county medical examiner and forensic pathologist, pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to illegally distribute opioid painkillers in exchange for sexual favors.
