Smoothie King still a go in Rome: We tracked down Jarrod Johnson who, last year, announced plans to put a Smoothie King franchise at Turner McCall and Martha Berry. The shop, at the time, was due by early 2016. Says Johnson via a Facebook message: “All can say at this time is that Smoothie King is still coming to Rome. We are vigilantly working things out. Last week, the council tentatively agreed to the idea. Council voted unanimously to provide a “letter of intent” showing its support if and when the Patels provided acceptable plans for renovations of the proposed site. T.J. “Tony” Patel, who already owns a liquor store and convenience store in the town, wants to team with his sister, Nita Patel, to open a steak and seafood restaurant in the old Lucky’s Grocery Store building which Patel owns.
