Four charged following Sunday night robbery at Flying J truck stop in Resaca
Media release: Sheriff Mitch Ralston reports that at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to the parking lot at “Flying ‘J’ ” truck stop in Resaca in response to a report of an armed robbery. The victims reported to deputies that they had been robbed at gunpoint by several people with whom they were somewhat familiar. The robbery occurred after the victims had agreed to meet with one of the suspects. The victims said that one of the group produced a handgun and robbed them of cash, documents and other personal effects. The perpetrators fled in two automobiles. The victims unsuccessfully gave chase, losing sight of the suspect vehicles near Resaca. Deputies obtained and broadcast a ‘look out’ for the suspect vehicles. Detectives responded to the scene, conducted interviews with potential witnesses and collected physical evidence. Detectives developed information within 48 hours which subsequently led to the identification and apprehension of four defendants:
- Carol Lively, age 41, of 233 Janine Way, Tunnel Hill, Georgia
- Zachary Lively, age 20, of 233 Janine Way, Tunnel Hill, Georgia
- Ian Lowery, age 19, of 1906 Lawson Way, Dalton, Georgia, and
- A 16-year-old male
All four defendants have been charged with two counts of armed robbery. The three adults are in custody at the county jail pending bond proceedings, and the juvenile has been released from custody.
