The YMCA’s One Warm Coat returns: Please donate a “gently used” or new coat to the Y by Thursday, Jan. 7 as part of the Y’s Fourth Annual One Warm Coat Give Away. Infant, Youth and Adult sizes needed. Coats will be given away at the Y on Friday-Sunday, Jan. 8-10. The Y’s coat give-away is open to the public and anyone needing a coat may come the Y on these dates to pick out a jacket or coat. Please call the Y at 706-232-2468.

 

The Bartow County School System will hold a public input hearing January 11, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. regarding its application to become a Strategic Waivers School System, one of the reform options available for Georgia’s K-12 public school systems. Please click for information.

Gordon Hospital has been recognized as a 2014 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in the United States. Gordon Hospital was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, and immunization. Gordon Hospital is one of only 1,043 hospitals out of more than 3,300 eligible hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2014 Top Performer distinction. The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions. The performance measures included in the recognition program include heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, inpatient psychiatric services, stroke, venous thromboembolism, perinatal care, immunization, tobacco treatment and substance use. Of the 1,043 Top Performer hospitals, 650 achieved the distinction for the past two years in a row, and 435 for the past three consecutive years. This is the third consecutive year Gordon Hospital has been recognized as a Top Performer.
