North Rome Church of God is gearing up for its annual Rome Passion Play that will be presented tonight and Sunday and again on March 26-29 at 7 p.m. nightly. The annual performance that portrays segments of the life and death of Christ, from betrayal to crucifixion, and then resurrection. is a popular community event during the Easter season. Church members have been busy working to replace many of the play’s props and play materials that were destroyed during a warehouse fire in October 2014, where they were stored near the church. The 239th Big Fibbers Storytelling Festival, featuring America’s favorite fibber Bil Lepp, will be held March 19-21 at Berry College. The three-day storytelling event will offer four performances to include stories from champion fibbers, adult fibbers and youth fibbers in addition to the Big Fibbers contest and storytelling workshop.
