Two job fairs set for April in Rome, Calhoun. Labor Department has hiring events set for Dalton, Canton

Goodwill of North Georgia is sponsoring two job fairs next month, one in Rome and the other in Calhoun. Both are free for employers and applicants.

Rome: April 8, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Goodwill Career Center at 154 Hicks Drive. There will be space available for up to 15 employers/agencies. You are welcome to bring supplemental signage, displays, application material, supplies, and other items you may require at your station. Volunteers will be on hand to assist you as needed and candidates with their resume and online application. Participating employers will be provided one six foot table along with two chairs. Lunch will be served immediately following the Job Fair. If you wish to participate, simply complete this form and return to Richard Lee, [email protected].

Calhoun: April 15, 1-4 p.m., Voluntary Action Center, 343 S. Wall St. There will be space available for employers and agencies. You are welcome to bring supplemental signage, displays, application material, supplies, and other items you may require at your station. Volunteers will be on hand to assist you as needed and candidates with their resume and online application. Participating employers will be provided one six foot table along with two chairs. The Georgia Department of Labor will help a staffing company, TiDra, Inc., recruit 64 workers for two textile manufacturing companies in the Dalton area. The recruitment will be held Monday, March 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the GDOL’s Dalton Career Center, 1406 Chattanooga Ave. The company is recruiting general laborers to assemble sample displays, stack sample boards, and unpack shelving units. Applicants must be able to bend, lift, and move up to 35 pounds. Due to U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Salaries begin at $8.50 an hour. The company will conduct background checks and drug-screening tests on selected applicants. Applicants may request a referral to a job by visiting any GDOL career center, or going on-line to www.gdol.ga.gov and clicking On-line Services and then Job Search. The Georgia Department of Labor and the Cherokee Office of Economic Development will co-sponsor the Cherokee County Expo Wednesday, March 25. It will be held from 2-5 p.m. in the Cherokee County Conference Center at 1130 Bluff Parkway in Canton. The expo will provide employers in the area with opportunities to recruit qualified and skilled employees. And, the expo will give jobseekers chances to meet reputable employers and expand their career options. More than 25 employers are expected to participate in the expo, all of which are well-established Cherokee County employers primarily in manufacturing, medical, and government. They include: Aramark, Awnex, Belnick, Chart Industries, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, Cobblestone Mills FactoryMation, Go Plastics, Inalfa, Morrison Products, Northside Hospital, Pilgrim’s Pride, Pillow Perfect, Piolax, ProLogic ITS, Raydeo Enterprises, RBC Aero Components, RoyTec Industries, Schoen Insulation Services, Southeast Restorations, Stag Enterprises, Transtechnik, UAC, and the City of Woodstock police and fire departments. Jobseekers are encouraged to bring resumes, be prepared to talk with employers, and dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment.
