Media release: On Saturday, Jan. 31,Floyd County 4-H hosted, the county’s largest youth public speaking event, Northwest Georgia Cloverleaf District Project Achievement, held at Georgia Highlands College. The day started out with a welcome from Georgia Highlands President Dr. Don Green. Students then presented speeches on various topics that they had a special interest in. After projects were presented and scores calculated students were recognized at the Northwest District Awards presentation.

Floyd County 4-H had 62 total representatives. Out of the 62, Floyd County had 16 first place winners, 12 second place winners and 12 third place winners. Floyd County 4-H was also recognized for having the third highest number of participants and third highest percentage of winners!

4-H Project Achievement allows youth, beginning at age nine and continuing until nineteen, to have the opportunity to explore an area of interest and share their knowledge through a competitive process. Projects are offered in more than 50 different areas with nearly every topic of interest or educational area available for exploration and presentation. Once a project area is selected, youth research and develop a presentation along with visual aids to present before a panel of judges.
