Smile Report: Coosa Middle student runner-up in District Spelling Bee
Media Release: Zac Mitchell, an eighth-grader at Coosa Middle School, placed second today in the GAE District 1 Spelling Bee. Mitchell’s second place finish qualifies him to participate in the Georgia Spelling Bee on March 20 at Georgia State University. Mitchell was the Floyd County Schools Spelling Bee champion for 2015.Mitchell holds the distinction of having won his school spelling bee each time he was eligible from fourth-grade to eighth-grade. He also participated in the Floyd county system final five consecutive years.
Mitchell is from a family of educators as both parents teach in Floyd County Schools. He is also active in Rome Little Theatre productions.
Now an accomplished winning speller, Mitchell will have his first shot at advancing to the national finals.
