Doyal Mack Quick, March 6, 1934-March 19, 2015

Mr. Doyal Mack Quick, age 81, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at a local hospital.

Mr. Quick was born in Silver Creek, Ga.,on March 6, 1934, son of the late Louie Mack Quick and the late Ruby Chaffin Quick. He worked for a number of years for General Electric of Rome, during which time he was also affiliated part-time with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home. Upon leaving General Electric, Mr. Quick married Daisey Sue Tallant of Summerville and together they owned and operated The Burger Shack and Pop’s Buffet House in Summerville until her death in 2007. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Rome. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Quick was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Lloyd and Linda Pettyjohn.

Survivors include two sons, Randy Quick and his wife, Janie, Rome, and Jeff Quick and his wife, Debbie, Watkinsville; three grandchildren; Kristin Myers and her husband, Neil, Silver Creek, Kori Quick, Noblesville, IN, and Perry Quick, Athens; four great grandchildren, Zachary Quick, Brady O’Malia, Gabrielle Myers and Caleb Myers; a very close friend, Marlene Ransom; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. David Campbell officiating and his son, Randy Quick, giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday from 1 until 2:45 p.m. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.

Patrick Marcus Edwin Wall, 21

Patrick Marcus Edwin Wall, age 21, of Rome died Saturday evening at a local hospital.

Marcus had an infectious smile and loved making others laugh. He had a love for computers and intended to return to college to obtain his degree in Computer Graphics Engineering which was his dream. He loved the outdoors and especially grilling out…. rain or shine. He especially loved his new niece and enjoyed spending time with her. He was a wonderful son, brother, friend, cousin, uncle and grandson. He will be missed greatly for a long time to come.

Survivors include his son Nathanal Joseph Wall; mother Lucille (Valerio) Pollard; grandparents Darrel and Deborah Wilson; foster parents Paul and Sue Mattson; sister Joslynn (Shane) Shelley; and brothers Rashawn Wall and Jonathan Willier; niece Storee Shelley; great great uncle Roger (Parthinia) Willier; great aunt and uncle Peggy Pegg and John (Sheila) Willier; aunts Karen Springer, Kelli Gleason, Sheila (Liz) Wilson and Cindy (Ray) Ramey; uncles Colin (Delia) Miracle, Troy Koon, James (Mildred) Wall and Thomas (Carol) Cain; cousins Danisha and Erika Springer and numerous other cousins, foster brothers and foster sisters in Ohio, Georgia, and Tennessee.

Visitation was Friday, March 20, at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue. There will be a barbecue to celebrate Marcus’s life at his grandparents home Saturday, March 21 between the hours of 12 noon and 5 P.M. “rain or shine”.
