Nancy ‘Nana’ Kinsey, Feb. 28, 1938-March 5, 2015

Mrs. Nancy Louise “Nana” Barnes Kinsey, age 77, of Rome, passed this life into the arms of Jesus after a long and courageous battle with her illness on Thursday, March 5, 2015.

Mrs. Kinsey was born in Cherokee County, Ala., on February 28, 1938, daughter of the late Jesse Franklin and Lemmar Mae Reeves Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Kinsey, on April 3, 2001, and by 9 siblings. Mrs. Kinsey was a homemaker and was a member of Cedartown Church of God. “Nana” loved all of her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved going to church and listening to gospel music. She loved doing her yard work and growing flowers. “Nana” was always ready to help in any way that she could. She was a lady that loved life, but is quite alright in her Heavenly home.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Kinsey Thompson, and her husband, Barry, Lyerly; a son, Alton Kinsey, and his wife, Becky, Lindale; 7 grandchildren, Jeremy Battle, and his wife, Dana, Summerville, Matthew Battle, and his wife, Stephanie, Rome, April DeSummer, and her husband, Mike, Rome, Matt Thompson, Lyerly, Ben Kinsey, and his wife, Natalia, Armuchee, Nick Kinsey, and his wife, Melissa, Woodstock, and Lacey Kinsey, Rome; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Dick Barnes, Rome; a special nephew, Terry Barnes, Rome; other nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with her grandson, the Rev. Nick Kinsey, and her Pastor, the Rev. John Moates officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Sunday evening from 5 until 7pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at their respective homes.

Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday at 10:30 am and include: Ben Kinsey, Matt Battle, Jeremy Battle, Brian Mobbs, Matt Thompson, and Barry Thompson.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Winfred J. “Wink” Stephens, 90, of Rome, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015, in Rome. Celebration of life is Sunday.

Ms. Gennie Ruth Smith passed on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at her residence surrounded by her family. Funeral services Sunday.

Mrs. Doris Sara Montgomery Sutton, age 89, of Rome, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015, in Rome. Services Monday.

Gladys Tutin died on March 4, 2015. As her request, her body was donated to the Medical College of Georgia. No services are planned.
