Jimmie Ann Young Brackett, March 25, 1943-Feb. 28, 2015

On Saturday morning, February 28, 2015, Jimmie Ann Young Brackett joyfully received the healing for which she so patiently waited and her faith became sight in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jimmie Ann, age 71, was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 25, 1943, grew up in West Armuchee Valley and attended Lafayette High School. She attended West Georgia College prior to her marriage to James F. (‘Jim’) Brackett. They began their married life in Flintstone, GA, where they lived until 1998 when they moved to Adairsville. Jimmie Ann passed away in her residence with her husband and family members close at hand.

She is survived by Jim Brackett of Adairsville (82), her husband of 53 years; three sons, Dr. Daniel Neal Young Brackett (Kim) of Rome, Brian Kevin Brackett of Marietta, and James Kristian Brackett (Nina) of Krapina, Croatia, as well as seven grandchildren, Evan, Chase, Isaac, Micah, Gracie, Gaby and Katy. She is also survived by two younger sisters, Mary Basden of Marietta and Sue Anderson (Larry) of Rocky Face. Jimmie Ann was the daughter of James N. and Emily M. Young.

In addition to raising three boys, she worked side by side with Jim for 28 years as the co-owner, treasurer and vice-president of Lookout Valley Pharmacy in Tiftonia, TN, and later, Brackett’s Valley Pharmacy in Flintstone. They were longtime members of Flintstone Baptist Church. Jim and Jimmie moved from Flintstone to Adairsville in 1998 and became members of New Armuchee Baptist Church in Armuchee, GA.

Those who knew Jimmie knew her as a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a kind sister, an amazing “Nana”, a dear friend, an avid cross-stitcher, a generous employer, a hard-working small business owner, a tireless volunteer, and a warm hostess. She touched many lives in the numerous roles she filled and will be missed by all of her family and friends.

Over the past 18 months, Jimmie has also demonstrated great faith, valiant steadfastness and unflinching confidence in her Savior as she battled pancreatic cancer. In her battle she maintained a clear testimony and showed great strength.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at 10am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Dr. David Howard and her son, the Rev. James Kristian Brackett officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include Larry Anderson, Robert Shiflett, Kelly Owens, Max Floyd, Robert Thacker, and Joseph Pethel. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, GA 30114 on Tuesday at 1:30pm.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Monday evening from 6 until 8pm.

It was her desire that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Theological Biblical Academy in Krapina, Croatia (gifts should be sent to Grace Community Church, 13248 Roscoe Blvd., Sun Valley, California, 91352. Please designate “Croatia Ministry, account number 080305” on the memo line or visit http://www.gracechurch.org/tba).

Her family would like to thank so many precious friends who have shown their love and appreciation for Jimmie Ann through kind thoughts, abundant prayers, unflagging support and constant encouragement during her battle with cancer. Specifically we would mention the fine folks of New Armuchee Baptist Church, led by Pastor David Howard, especially the members of her Sunday school class. We would also like to express our great appreciation for Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd, and specifically Amanda Broyles and Tammy Greene, her nurse and aide, who have been such a blessing in these last weeks of Jimmie Ann’s extraordinary life.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
