Construction is now complete on the new Welcome Center at Berry College, but it won’t be fully operational for several months according to Berry officials.

“The Welcome Center will not be fully operational for several months in terms of visitor check-in and registration. It currently works the same way as the previous gatehouse,” says Chris Kozelle, Berry Public Relations and Marketing.

“In about a month, our Welcome Center team of students will move into the center. When that happens, visitors will be able to come in and ask questions as well as take informational brochures about the campus. But again, registration/check-in, will not happen for several months.”

Work began last July on the 800-square-foot facility which includes a special entrance/exit drive-through area. The project was designed to include both security teams and students greeting visitors to the campus. Maps and other information will be available. A separate gating system will accommodate faculty, students, staff and other frequent visitors to campus. The college is in the process of hiring its student welcome team.

As for the old gatehouse, Kozelle says “It will be demolished at some point in the future.”
