Floyd Medical Center: Wade Monk to retire, Tommy Manning joining Legal team

Media release: Kurt Stuenkel, Floyd President and CEO, announced today that Wade Monk, General Counsel, will retire later this fall, and that Tommy Manning is joining Floyd’s legal department on April 1.

“Wade has been our trusted legal counsel for 30 years now,” Stuenkel said. “He joined Floyd as a full-time employee in 2002. We are sad to see Wade leave us, but he has earned his retirement.

“We have found his replacement in Tommy Manning, and we welcome him. I am very pleased that we will have a good transition period.

“While we will miss Wade’s steady and reliable advice, as well as his friendship and humor, I am confident that we have made a good choice in Tommy, and I look forward to working with him.”

Though looking forward to retirement, Monk will look back on his years at Floyd with fondness.

“My time at Floyd has been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally,” he said. “Floyd is an excellent organization, and I’m honored to have spent so much of my career here.”

Manning is a partner in the law firm McRae, Stegall, Peek, Harman, Smith and Manning LLP. He has been practicing law in Floyd County since 1991 and is a former president of Floyd Healthcare Foundation.

“Floyd is fortunate to be joined by an attorney the caliber of Tommy Manning,” Monk said. “I look forward to working with him over the next several months as we make this transition.”
