Chef Lin, a popular Chinese buffet in Chattanooga, targets April opening in former Golden China home

For more than 10 years, Chef Tony Lin and his family have been serving the Chattanooga area with what is known as “the largest international buffet” in the region. Along the way, they’ve picked up a buffet load of honors, including “Best Chinese Restaurant,” “Best Buffet,” “Best Dinner Under $10,” “Best Power Lunch,” “Best Deal for the Buck” and even one of the “Top 100 Chinese Restaurants” in America by Chinese Restaurant News, a nationwide Chinese magazine. You’ll find those accolades on the restaurant’s website — and also by googling Chef Lin’s in Chattanooga. There, you’ll see the listings of “best ofs” as voted by readers of various print and web media serving the area, including as recently as this year.
Lin is bringing his menu, buffet and family style to West Rome sometime next month. Lin has leased the former Golden China at 1505 Shorter Ave. where extensive renovations are continuing. The original is just west of the I-75.I-24 split as you turn toward Nashville (take the South Terrace Plaza ramp, Exit 184 off I-24 near the Rave theater complex).
We don’t have the Rome location’s hours as yet. The Chattanooga restaurant is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. most days, and until 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Prices are $6.45 for lunch, $9.95 for dinner and $7.55 for Sunday brunch. Discounts for kids and those 65 and older are offered as is a free birthday meal if there are three or more in your party.
