About that sign in the window at LocoMex, coming to 201 Broad St. Lots of eyes are on Magretta Hall as it shifts from the Crickets venture to LocoMex. The latest: Owner/operator Federico Gimenez says about the opening date — “I’m looking at the third or fourth week of July. We are working on the building and waiting on the liquor license in the meantime.”
About that license. You’ve seen the sign in one of the front windows about the meeting before the Rome Alcohol Control Commission. The review actually occurred at the May meeting of Rome’s Alcohol Control Commission but there were a few more Ts and Is to finish.
From the minutes: “Mr. Gimenez spoke at the podium explaining his business plan for Rome. He has other restaurants in the Carrollton, Villa Rica, and Franklin, Ga., area. He commented on his training program and past experience in the restaurant/alcohol business. After a short discussion regarding Rome’s Alcohol Ordinance, Mr. (Collin) Doss moved to approve the Beer, Wine, and Liquor Pouring License request as submitted, subject to all final inspections and approvals by the appropriate City officials and contingent upon Mr. Gimenez’s background investigation being acceptable. Ms. (Monica) Sheppard seconded the motion, and the vote was unanimously in favor.”

Cartersville Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging as the result of a recent review by the American College of Radiology. MRI is a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce anatomical images of internal body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report that can be used for continuous practice improvement. “This accreditation is another confirmation of the quality of the imaging services department at Cartersville Medical Center,” said Rodney Robinson, director of imaging services. “I am so proud of my staff for this most recent achievement for MRI, which joins our accreditations in mammography, breast ultrasound, stereotactic breast biopsy, positron emission tomography (PET), computed tomography (CT), nuclear medicine and ACR designated lung cancer screening center.”
