The Floyd County Health Department, 16 E. 12th St., will conduct a Pre-K Health Roundup this week, to provide required hearing, vision and dental examinations as well as required immunizations for kids entering Pre-K and kindergarten next fall. Roundup hours are Monday through Wednesday 8:30 until 11 a.m. and 1 until 4 p.m.; Thursday, 8:30 until 11 a.m. and 1 until 5:30 p.m.; and Friday, 8:30 a.m. until noon. No appointments are necessary. Meet the Artists of the 2016 HEART project on Monday, Feb. 1, from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at the 7 Hills Fellowship Meeting room, corner of Broad Street and Sixth Avenue. “This year’s project includes five new hearts in the form of garlands making the total 20 to adorned our downtown during the month of February which is national Heart health awareness month. The Rome Area Council for the Arts has again teamed up with Redmond Regional (Medical Center) to highlight the arts and heart health during this time. Please join us as we honor our local artists,” says Emily Hjort.

Rome Little Theatre’s production of “The Secret Garden” runs through Friday-Sunday. The musical is one that flows strongly with hauntingly beautiful themes of finding life and meaning after a heavy loss. Based on the enchanting literary classic, the musical is re-imagined in a bold and brilliant style. Hours: 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2:30 p.m. Sundays. DeSoto Theatre, Broad Street. Darlington’s fine arts department will present “Little Shop of Horrors” Feb. 5-7 at the Rome City Auditorium. Doors will open Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., with showtime at 7:30 p.m. The Sunday matinee begins at 2:30 p.m., after doors open at 2 p.m. The show is based on the 1980s hit comedy sci-fi horror Off-Broadway rock musical of the same name, and features a story by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance online at www.darlingtonschool.org/musical, or at the door on the day of the show. General admission tickets are $10. Tiger Booster Club members and current Darlington families may request reserved seating for no additional cost. The general public can purchase tickets in the reserved section for $15 each. All reserved tickets are offered online only and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
