ROME

Non-profit regional blood center, Blood Assurance, will be hosting a special blood drive in recognition of Valentine’s Day at all of the organization’s donor centers and bloodmobiles beginning Monday, February 1 until Friday, February 12. All participating donors will receive a custom Valentine’s Day themed t-shirt, along with an entry to win a gift certificate to Outback Steakhouse. The organization invites the community to spread love this Valentine’s Day by giving the gift of life to local patients in need of blood donations.To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids - avoiding caffeine - and eat a meal that is rich in protein prior to donating. For questions about donating blood, please call (423)-756-0966. Artist Christina Renfer Vogel is showcasing a selection of her paintings and drawings at Berry College’s Moon Gallery Feb. 8 through Mar. 4. The exhibition presents selections from a number of series Vogel has created since completing graduate school that, in her words, “explore the familiar and unremarkable.” Her subjects include figures often cropped and turned away from the viewer silhouetted in a field of color. There will be an opening reception at 5 p.m. Feb. 9. The Moon Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5.p.m. and is free and open to the public. For further information contact J. FLOYD COUNTY

Georgia Legal Services Program will be in the Judicial Courthouse located at 3 Government Plaza, Suite 114 on Friday, February 12th beginning at 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. to assist low-income clients in a range of civil matters, including TPOs, public benefits, housing, consumer issues and school suspensions. This is a service provided on the second Friday of each month by Barbara H Penson, Clerk of Superior Court and GA Legal Service Program. Questions may be addressed by calling 706-291-5190.

Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley will hold a Family Selection Meeting on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Rome Library in the Coosa Room. Anyone interested in learning how to become a Habitat Partner Family needs to attend this meeting. Attendance is all that is needed for the first meeting, they do not need to bring anything.

CARTERSVILLE

The Century Bank Entertainment Series at The Grand Theatre continues when Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out return to The Grand on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. Russell Moore has been awarded “Male Vocalist of the Year” five times by the International Bluegrass Music Association. Celebrating nearly twenty-five years together, the band continues to be one of the most awarded and influential bluegrass bands in history. Orchestra level tickets are $25 and balcony level seats are $20. This is a reserved seating event.
