Here’s what is going across Northwest Georgia:
The Floyd County Republican Women meet at noon Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Red Lobster on Shorter Avenue. Lunch is at 11:30 a.m. and the meeting begins at noon. The guest speaker is state Sen. Josh McKoon, R-Columbus.
Cartersville-Bartow Chamber’s Quarterly Luncheon: Held at the Clarence Brown Conference Center. 11:15 a.m. networking, 11:30 a.m. buffet begins, noon program begins. Anheuser-Busch is providing 2,156 cases of emergency drinking water — or 51,744 cans — for residents of Flint, Michigan in need of clean drinking water. Anheuser-Busch’s Cartersville brewery is sendinh a truck loaded with water to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, which is supplying water to area residents in need. The water will arrive the first week of February at the Food Bank’s request. “Anheuser-Busch is committed to supporting local communities,” said Bill Bradley, Vice President of Community Affairs, Anheuser-Busch. “This is one way we can help our friends and neighbors in a time of need.”
CALHOUN
From the city of Calhoun: CSX Railroad will have the railroad crossings at Maple Street, East Line Street and Old Dalton Road closed for maintenance on Feb. 1. Please plan on alternate routes this coming Monday. CSX will be in contact with local governments, 911 and the schools to help get the word out.
