Mrs. Julie E. Moses, age 71, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at her caregiver’s residence.
Mrs. Moses was born in Mississippi on July 26, 1944. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Rogers, by her second husband, Roy Moses, and by a grandson, Klint Rogers. Mrs. Moses was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Marty Rogers, Rome; two grandchildren, Preston Rogers, Rockmart, and Morgan Hill, North Dakota; great grandchildren, Austin Rogers, Promise Melissa Rogers, Klint Ross, and Stagger Rogers; her caregiver, Lisa Raykovics, Rockmart.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016, at 2:30pm at East View Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Anderson will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 1 until 2pm. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.
Mr. Vernon Winfred Dunwoody, Sr. age 96, of Rome passed away Monday January 18, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Dunwoody was born May 18,1919 a son of the late Roy and Bessie Self Dunwoody. He was if the Baptist Faith, and retired from Press Room Forman of the Rome News Turbine for several years, he brought color to the newspaper, and won several awards for his colored technique. Mr. Dunwoody was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Potts Dunwoody, brother, Kermit Dunwoody, sister Anne Ray Williams.
Survivors include a daughter Donna “Peaches” Young, Rome; son, Vernon (Bubba) Dunwoody, Jr., Stockbridge; several nieces and nephews, of Jacksonville, Fl;
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday January 22, 2016, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mitzi Oates, officiating. Interment will follow Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends hour prior to the service on Friday, at Parnick Jennings , Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
