Obituaries: Remembering Mr. Cecil E. Burley Jr., Miriam Louise Peek, Mrs. Carolyn Babb Wilson.

Mrs. Carolyn Babb Wilson, age 74, of Rome, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2016, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 21, 1941, daughter of the late Lorene Morrison McBrayer and the late Francis Babb. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Howard McBrayer, and by a sister, Marie Babb. Mrs. Wilson was of the Baptist faith. Prior to retirement, she worked for the Floyd County Board of Education.

Survivors include her husband, Neely Wilson, Sr., to whom she was married on March 23, 1962; a daughter, Lisa Wilson, Rome; a son, Neely Wilson, Jr., Rome; a special family friend, Lisa Potts; 3 grandchildren; Jamey, Kayla and Rachael Potts; a great granddaughter, Alyssa Godfrey; three brothers, Ronnie McBrayer, Hueytown, AL, Frank Babb, Montevallo, AL, and Wayne Babb, Centerville, AL; a sister, Linda Singleton, Centerville, AL; her step-mother, Dorothy Babb, Centerville, AL; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2016, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. James Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday from 1:45 until 2:45pm. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Thursday at 2:30pm and include: Daniel Hubka, John Gardiner, Bill McCary, Franklin Langley, Jason Machtolff, and Scottie Reynolds.

Mr. Cecil E. Burley Jr., age 73, of 509 Wilson Ave.on Rome, Ga. transitioned January 17, 2016.

Services for Mr. Cecil E. Burley Jr. will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 11 am at Saint Paul AME Church ( 106 E 6 Ave.) in Rome, Ga.. The body will instate from 10 am until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 6 until 7 pm. The interment will take place at Georgia National Cemetery on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10:30 am. Please keep Mrs. Bonnie Faye Burley and the entire Burley family covered in your prayers.
