Blumberg bringing ‘Seasons’ to Broad Street; seeks license at Tuesday’s ACC meeting. Plus: Something ‘Cheesy’ at River Dog Outpost.

Bob Blumberg made a huge splash — and investment — in bringing Johnny’s New York Style Pizza to Broad Street and downtown Rome in March 2010.
Blumberg is at it again, this time on the other side of the street at 208 Broad St. He goes before Rome’s Alcohol Control Commission at 5 p.m. Tuesday to get a beer, wine and liquor pouring license for Seasons. The ACC also will consider Beer, Wine, and Liquor Package License at Big Time Liquor, Wine and Tobacco at 1614 Shorter Ave., sought by Larry Martin. (Agenda)
Back to Broad Street: In November, Cevian Design Lab purchased 202 Broad St. and announced plans to move upstairs while leasing the first floor. Mark Cochran and co. had been in the top store of 208 Broad St. but that building was being sold as well. The buyer eventually was identified as Blumberg, who causally mentioned plans to bring a different level of dining to the downtown area.
Those plans have been heating up as has the speculation of something new for downtown. Blumberg has some exotic tastes as we’ve seen with the upstairs addition at Johnny’s known as Red, a mix of a private dining/party area that also has had late-night weekend entertainment.
Seasons is the latest in a wave of downtown changes that started with River Dog Outpost, a beer garden concept at 1 Broad St. Several others are said to be on the way in the 200 and 300 blocks of Broad as well as perhaps a Rome edition of Carrollton’s Palladino’s Authentic Wood Fired Pizza
Speaking of River Dog: Nice addition there started this past weekend and continues on Friday and Saturday nights; this from Speakcheesy: “Welp! We are changing it up on you, guys. Starting tonight, we are moving our Friday and Saturday dinner and late night shifts to River Dog Outpost! We are super excited to be partnering with River Dog and can’t wait for you guys to enjoy some Speakcheesy by the river with some Sweet Water brews! We’ll be there tonight staring at 6pm and we’ll see you there!”
