U.S. Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ga.: “Tonight, we heard the president’s plans for his final year in office. Let’s be honest – it’s the same old stuff. It’s time to move on to new ideas and a brighter future. This year, we will put forward a conservative vision to make our nation more prosperous, restore health care freedom and make national defense a top priority once again. We want to empower individuals to make their own decisions and pursue their own American Dream. Our plan is to take power from Washington and give it back to the people – where it belongs. Already, we’ve proved that we can grow the economy, repeal Obamacare, protect innocent life, cut wasteful spending, secure the border, and destroy ISIS – we just need a new president who will work with us and sign these bills into law. I know it’s been a tough time for many in America. You might be one who fears for your family’s safety, or for your freedoms. You see people hurting. Your heart aches for our country. You are not alone. We are all in this together, and I know we can and will turn things around. I’ll leave you with a quote from Ronald Reagan: “The American Dream lives… As long as that dream lives, as long as we continue to defend it, America has a future, and all mankind has reason to hope.”

Video from U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga. Loudermilk will join us at 7:40 a.m. Thursday on Hometown Headlines Radio Edition on WRGA 98.7 FM. Summary of his video: “The President has given his final State of the Union address. What we heard was how his failed policy has been good for America; but I think what is more important is what he didn’t say. He ignored all the issues critical to getting America back on track. I believe we need to paint a new vision for America, and then work together for a nation that is once again free, safe, and full of opportunity.”

U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., today released the following statement: “The state of our union is uncertain. Why? Because 68 percent of the American people when polled say America is going in the wrong direction. Why? Very simply for two reasons: One is the economy. Overregulation by the bureaucracy of the federal government has stifled business so that growth is only at 2 percent when it really ought to be at 4 percent. But just as importantly, ISIL threatens the security of all the world. We need not just a strategy of containment. We need a strategy of victory. We need to make sure we wipe out ISIL today to restore peace and tranquility not just to America but to the security and safety of all the free people of the world. The state of our union is uncertain because we haven’t done the job that we need to do in foreign policy or economic domestic policy to make a difference for the American people. It’s time we focused on doing that today.”
