Obituaries: Remembering Doris Viola Gross and Shelia Sharpe Mansfield

Mrs. Doris Viola Gross, age 83, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at a Marietta hospital. Mrs. Gross was born on September 7, 1932, in Edgar, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Theodore Redmann and the late Ida Viegut Redmann. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Gross, by two brothers, Lester Redmann and Ned Redmann, and by a sister, Erna Erickson. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in the Garden Lakes Community. Survivors include a daughter, Jill Taylor and her husband, Kevin, Kennesaw; two sons, Bruce Gross, Athens, Wisconsin, and Jeffrey Gross, Marathon, Wisconsin; six sisters, Mary Ann Boege, Dorothy Okeson, Alice Vollmar, Rosie Redmann, Theadora Hamann and Edna Morris; three brothers, Ray Redmann, Dan Redmann and Ralph Redmann; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces & nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016, at 2:00pm at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jack Karch officiating. Private interment will follow in the Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2016, from 1pm until the funeral hour at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
Shelia Fay Sharpe Mansfield, age 54, of Rome passed away Wednesday January 6, 2016, in a local hospital. Shelia was born January 28, 2016 in Floyd County, a daughter of the late George Robert Sharpe, and Eva May Sharpe. She attended Rome First Assembly of God, she was a 1979 graduate of Model High School. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve Shape. Survivors include her companion, Arthur Cunningham, Rome; sisters, Susan Croy, Rome; Sharon (Tim) Matthews, Rome; nieces and nephews, Doug, Toni, Robert, Eric, Molly, Grayson, McKenzie, Katelyn, and Emma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday January 10, 2016 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Levonne Humphrey officiating. Entombment will follow in Oaknoll Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday January 9, 2016 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165. at other hours the family may be contacted at residence of a sister Sharon Matthews.
