About the above chart: ‘Meteorological fall’ or Sept. 1-Nov. 30 was 2.3 degrees warmer in Rome than normal — the largest difference in the state — while Cartersville’s average temperature over those three months finished 1.8 degrees on the plus side. Rome’s average was 63.6 degrees vs. 61.3 while Cartersville saw 62.9 degrees vs.61.1. Both cities saw highs of 94 and lows of 25 in the three months. November was more than five degrees above normal in Rome and 4.2 degrees hotter in Cartersville. Rome saw 3.1 additional inches of rain above average vs. a nearly five-inch increase in Cartersville.
