Career Depot highlights several job fairs in Northwest Georgia this month; plus Labor Department updates

Northwest Georgia Career Depot, part of the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, has leads on several job fairs this month. Included are:

  • Fieldturf Recruitment, Jan. 8-9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Fieldturf Tarkett Sports, 175 N Industrial Blvd., Calhoun: Employer needs to hire 20-30 new employees. More below.
  • Alorica, Jan. 12, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., Cartersville Career Center, 19 Felton Place: Alorica is currently seeking bright, motivated individuals to join their valued team of call center agents. 30 seasonal and permanent jobs.
  • Goodwill of North Georgia will be hosting a multi-employer job fair on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rome Career Center (154 Hicks Drive near Home Depot).
  • Personnel Staff Inc., Jan. 14, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., 2811 Martha Berry (next to WOW).

Media release: The Georgia Department of Labor will help FieldTurf hire about 30 employees Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8-9, to work at its manufacturing plant in Calhoun. The company manufactures synthetic turf for athletic fields. The recruitment will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at FieldTurf Tarkett Sports located at 175 North Industrial Blvd. in Calhoun. GDOL staff will be on hand to assist the applicants prior to interviews with the company. The company is hiring warehouse lift-truck operators, coater operators, tufting machine operators, tufting crew leaders and warehouse inventory clerks. Due to U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, applicants must be at least 18 years old. They must also have a high school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED). Depending on the position, experience ranges from six months to two years. Salaries range from $10 to $17 an hour, depending on the position. The company will conduct background checks and drug-screening tests on selected applicants. Applicants should be prepared to complete company applications, interview with the employer, and dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment
