Obituaries: Remembering Mrs. Patsy Sue Dunaway

Mrs. Patsy Sue Dunaway, age 80, of Armuchee, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2016, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Dunaway was born in Floyd County, Georgia on August 16, 1935, daughter of the late Bascom Lloyd Cowan and the late Marjie Bell Wilson Cowan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Willis Dunaway. Mrs. Dunaway was a graduate of Armuchee High School and was a member of the New Armuchee Baptist Church and the Western Promenaders. Prior to retirement, she worked for 42 years as a Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court at the Floyd County Courthouse. Mrs. Dunaway loved working in her flowers, doing crossword puzzles, and being with her family.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Dunaway and his wife, Sherrie, Armuchee; two daughters, Marie Lanier and her husband, Ken, Summerville, and Elaine Purdy and her husband, Bobby, Rome; three grandchildren, Will Dunaway, Cody Lanier, and Christen Roach; a brother, Frank Cowan and his wife, Ellen, Rome; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. Gregory Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in the New Armuchee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Wednesday from 1pm until the service time. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences. Sons-in-law and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
