Obituaries: Remembering Jack Junior Clonts

Mr. Jack Junior Clonts, age 82, of Rome, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2015, at a local hospital.

Mr. Clonts was born in Attalla, AL on March 4, 1933, son of the late John Bryant Clonts and the late Ada Frances Hulsey Clonts. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Copeland Clonts, by a grandson, Mark Clonts, by 2 sisters, Lillie Mae Butler and Della Ruth Lyons, and by 4 brothers, Ernest, Johnny, Louis, and Lloyd Clonts. Mr. Clonts was employed for a while at the Lindale Mill but was also a self-employed contractor, carpenter, and painter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War and was of the Church of Christ faith.

Survivors include 4 sons, Wayne Clonts, and his wife, Janice, Silver Creek, Phillip Clonts, Rome, Charles Clonts, and his wife, Jackie, Rome, and Chris Clonts, Rome; a step-daughter, Sandy Farmer, Rome; a sister, Ida Tomz, Attalla, AL; 2 brothers, Frank Clonts, Rome, and Elmer Clonts, Attalla, AL; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 5 until 7pm. Following the visitation, Mr. Clonts will be cremated in accordance with his wishes.
