Mrs. Lisa Garrison Hicks, age 49, of Rome, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015, at her residence. Mrs. Hicks was born in Rome, Georgia on October 11, 1966, daughter of Linda Grace Rayburn Garrison and the late J. D. Garrison. She attended the Pisgah Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, she worked for Glock in Customer Service. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Hicks, to whom she was married on June 17, 1989; a son, Tyler Mason Hicks, Rome; a grandson, Weston Mitchell; her mother, Linda Garrison, Rome; two sisters, Deborah Lewis and her husband, Sammy, Rome, and Vickie Worthington, Portland, OR; a brother Ricky Garrison and his wife, Kim, Rome; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 1pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Ricky Shirley and Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7pm. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.

Mrs. Sibyl Hall Jones, 96, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Oxton Place. Born December 15, 1919, in Geraldine, AL, she was the daughter of the late Claude Hall and the late Belle Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ralph L. Jones and her two sons, Jack L. Jones and Jim P. Jones. Survivors include her sister, Vera Mason; her daughter-in-law, Janie Jones; and her grandchildren, Gregory Todd Jones, Michelle Lewis, Jamie Campbell and Emi Smith. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Oaknoll Chapel with The Reverend Jody Cagle officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. Terri Leigh Peace Richards deceased Wednesday morning, December 30, 2015, at a Rome hospital following a lengthy illness. Her survivors include her husband, William (Bill) Richards; son, William (Will) Richards; parents, Julia Annette Rucker Peace, and James and Susan Peace; siblings, Tammie Darden (Daniel), Timothy Peace (Melissa), Trudy Silver (Robert), Marissa Peace, and step brother, Michael Strutton (Michelle).Terri was a 1980 graduate of Coosa High School. She continued her education at Shorter College where she received a degree in Fine Arts followed by a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Berry College. Her most noted artwork was a depiction of the stages of life in the womb which has been presented at pro-life events in the Rome community. Her love for others was exemplified in the kindness shown, not only to her husband and son, but to all of the people with whom she came in contact. Terri was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rome. Immediately following the Funeral Mass there will be a Graveside Service and Inurnment in the Parish Memorial Garden. A reception with family and friends will then follow in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the college completion fund for her son, Will Richards, can be made at the funeral reception or to the “Will Richard’s Educational Fund” at the Greater Community Bank.

Gary Marvin Scoggins, age 72 of Shannon, passed away Tuesday December 29, 2015 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday January 2, 2016, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Russell, and Vincent Moreno, officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery, with Shaklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion conducting full military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Saturday, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
