Business: Opening delayed for new Krispy Kreme. Ledbetter Properties’ new Kroger Marketplace rising in Cartersville. Personnel Staffing opens in Rome.

An extremely wet December has delayed the opening of the new Krispy Kreme coming to Turner McCall Blvd. Corporate officials say the don’t yet have a new tentative opening date, but hope to be open as soon as possible in the new year. The new store was previously expected to open Dec. 29.

Hiring continues for the doughnut shop. Among the open positions are assistant manager, shift supervisor, production specialist and team members. You can apply online.

Despite the rain, Ledbetter Properties continues to make progress on the new Kroger Marketplace in Cartersville. In the above photo posted by Ledbetter Properties, you can see the walls of the new store going up.

The new store will cover 120,000 square feet when it opens in October 2016, said Glynn Jenkins, public relations director of Kroger’s Atlanta division in an earlier interview with Hometown Headlines. Look for 300 jobs, some of which will be those migrating from the current Kroger at the other end of Main Street.

Here’s what we know about about the new Ledbetter Properties development. The breakdown:

• Kroger Marketplace: 119,653 square feet. That’s almost 50 percent larger than the recently expanded Rome store. It will be the first supersized Kroger in Georgia. Please see our June 12 story for a closer look at the new Kroger.
• Space for six restaurants — none identified. They’ll range in size from 1,600 to 4,920 square feet.
• A dental clinic at 3,000 square feet.
• An eye center at 2,800 square feet.
• A single retail spot with 3,800 square feet.
• Also identified: A tract to the right (I-75 side) of Kroger Marketplace marked for future development. The site is nearly as large as the grocery and parking lot adjoining it.

New Business note: Personnel Staffing, Inc. (PSI) based in Gadsden, AL has opened a local branch at 2811 Martha Berry Blvd. in Rome, located next door to WOW Cafe. Officials say they represente different vendors needing staffing assistance and hiring employees. The office can be reached at 706-844-9235.
