Weekend: Christmas ‘free day’ at Chieftains, Shop with a Cop, Toys for Tots distribution and Christmas concerts

The Coosa Valley Fraternal Order of Police (Lodge 14) announces a continued partnership with Kmart for the annual Shop With a Cop. The event is scheduled to take place at the Rome store on Dec. 19. Details

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home will host a free event for families and children of all ages on Saturday. The museum will show its holiday spirit with a “Christmas Free Day” from 12-4 p.m. Visitors will receive free admission to the museum, which includes a self-guided tour of the house decorated in Moravian style to commemorate the first missionaries to introduce Christmas to the Cherokees. In addition, parents and children will have a chance to create Christmas crafts to keep or share. Children will also be able to write a letter to Santa and mail it to the North Pole at the Chieftains Museum Magic Mailbox. The “Christmas Free Day” event will take place at Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home located at 501 Riverside Parkway in Rome.
