Mr. Michael Dean Church Sr., age 62, of Lindale, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at a local hospital.

Mr. Church was born in West Virginia on June 21, 1953, son of the late Thomas Eugene Church and the late Billie Evelyn Spratt Church. He was a veteran, having served with the United States Marine Corps. He was a former Security Officer at Floyd College and was of the Church of God faith. He was a avid ham radio operator, known as KJ40IR, and was a member of the Northwest Georgia Amateur Radio Club. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Marvin Franklin Church and Thomas Eugene Church, II.

Survivors include his wife, the former Carolyn Bernice Riffe, to whom he was married in 1976; a daughter, Jessica Bates, and her husband, Joey, Silver Creek; 2 sons, Michael Church, Jr., and his wife, Trina, Brentwood, TN, and Matthew Church, Lindale; a brother, Donald Church, Big Four, WV; 2 sisters, Tammy Abell, Ocala , FL and Drema Mikles, St. Petersburg, FL; 3 grandchildren, Carson Bates, Maggie Bates, and Khloe Church; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Bobby Baker will officiate. Interment will follow on Monday in Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard extending military honors.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday evening from 5 until 7pm. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

Honorary pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30pm on Sunday and include: Jimmy Vasser, Brandon Tucker, Darrell Tucker, Chad Smith, Mario Armas, and Clint Lawson.

Mr. John Robert Reed Sr., age 72 of Rome passed away Wednesday December 16, 2015 in a local hospital.

Mr. Reed was born February 27, 1943, in Floyd County, a son of late Charlie Reed and Jennie Williams Reed. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, and a retired from Sara Lee Bakery. He was preceded in death by a son, Darrell Reed, brothers and sisters, Bud Reed, Chuck Reed, Betty Reed Massingale, Margie Reed Sheldon.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Ely, children, Vickie Reed Bott, John Reed, Jr. Carmen Reed Reyes, Kay Reed Bell, Pam Reed Comer, Hudd Reed, Jenny Reed Brannon, step sons, Chad Wood, and Butch Whaley, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday December 19, 2015 at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Chuck Kelly, officiating. Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard of the American Legion will conduct full military honors. The family will receive friends from 11:30 A.M until the hour of service on Saturday, at Parnick Jennings, Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.
