A grand month for openings: Two stores open, seven others on the way, one in limbo. Together, that’s $60 million-plus.
You actually do need a scorecard to keep track of retail and other openings in Northwest Georgia these days. The cumulative investment easily tops $60 million; Rome’s new Hampton Inn is more than $9 million of that. And then there’s the new Coosa High School, taxpayer financed at $32 million.
Several stores already have opened; another will beat its original deadline; still another floats in limbo. Here’s a look at recent or upcoming openings:
- ALDI, Goodwill Store in Calhoun, both off Ga. 53: Opened Dec. 3.
- Party City on Main Street in Cartersville next to Academy Sports: Opens Friday.
- Aspen Dental in front of Midtown Crossing, Shorter Avenue, Rome. Dec. 17,
- Krispy Kreme doughnut shop on Turner McCall, Rome: Dec. 29
