Q102’s ‘Early Morning Crew’ signs off Dec. 11. Chamber prelegislative breakfast Dec. 10. Jobs updates.

Changes coming to Q102’s weekday mornings: The “Early Morning Crew” featuring Jim and Julie on Q102 ends its run Friday, Dec. 11. A farewell party/live broadcast is set for Chick-fil-A Dwarf House on Shorter Avenue from 6-9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, with the finale in the studio on that Friday. The announcement was made Monday morning amid the show’s normal antics and buffered by the seasonal run of Christmas music. The Christmas theme will remain through the holidays and a new show, Bob and Sheri, premieres on Jan. 4. Jim posted a note on the station’s Facebook page Monday explaining the changes. In part, it reads:

“As many know, I have family that live out of town. My wife and I have decided to look at options of moving closer to them. While the decision to leave is difficult, I know it is the right one. Twelve years is a long time. I was told that our show is the longest running show ever on Q102 and one of the longest running local shows in Rome, Ga., radio history. That makes me proud. You, our listeners, made it happen and I thank you for all the support. So what’s next? Julie and I will broadcast the next-to-last show on Thursday Dec. 10 from Chick-fil-A and we’d love for you to stop by and visit one last time. The final show will be from the studio the next day, Dec 11. I cannot thank my friend Julie enough for all she has done. I’ve often said she has no idea just how extremely talented she is. Her quick wit, her sense of humor, her comedic timing, her dedication to the show and her ability to keep me in line (most of the time), made her an absolute joy to share a microphone with each day. Thanks, Jules, for an incredible journey. To my my former co-hosts…Ginger, Karli, Maddox Dee, and Monica, you know I love you guys. Thanks for all the fun mornings…it was a pleasure to work with each and every one of you.”

Q102 is part of RRP LLC, which also includes WRGA 98.7 FM, the broadcast home of Hometown Headlines Radio Edition each weekday morning.
