@10:50 p.m. Few power outages in our area; that could change after freezing rain arrives. Charge everything now.

One thing we’re not seeing so far in this winter storm: power outages. We’ve continued to check both Georgia Power’s outage map and the new one offered by North Georgia EMC. Both show few if any outages and those are outside our area.

That could change swiftly overnight as the next wave of storms brings freezing rain to Northwest Georgia. Snapped tree limbs usually mean downed power lines.

Best bet: Don’t wait until bedtime to charge your phones. Start now to ensure you’ll be at 100 percent should you lose power overnight.
