DNR: Holiday saw three boating under the influence arrests in our area; 29 statewide. Boating accidents injured 11, killed two.

Three drownings and two boating fatalities were reported by the law enforcement division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources between July 4 and Sunday. The Calhoun office, which includes Northwest Georgia, reported three boating under the influence arrests. Statewide, there were 29 BUI arrests. The Georgia State Patrol reports the Independence Day holiday travel period will stretch to 102 hours this year, beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday.
