Three smog alerts in Georgia posted for Monday (a first for us):

Five in a row for Bartow, metro Atlanta: The Georgia Environmental Protection Division has issued a Code Orange (unhealthy for sensitive groups) Air Quality Alert for Bartow County and metro Atlanta for Monday May 14. Under Code Orange conditions, the outdoor air quality is likely to be unhealthy for some people. Children, people who are sensitive to ozone, and people with heart or lung disease should limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest. Another alert is out for the Chattanooga area today, which includes Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties.

A third is up for the Central Savannah Region from South Carolina which includes the Augusta area.

Rain also on the way: Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible on Monday over portions of central Georgia and the northeast mountains. Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will be possible across the entire area Tuesday through Saturday.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, then a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tuesday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 65. East wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday: Rain and thunderstorms likely. Cloudy, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Cloudy, with a low around 65.

Thursday: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm. High near 83. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
