Mrs. Marsha “Darlene” Smith, age 66, of Highland Street, Rome, GA, died Friday, May 11, 2018, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Smith was born November 18, 1951, in Floyd County daughter of the late Dwight Gilstrap and Martha Helms Gilstrap. Until her retirement Mrs. Smith had been associated with Orkin Inc. as office manager. Mrs. Smith was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, the church choir, Friendship Circle and Sunday School Secretary. She was a graduate of Model High School, an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and provided much love and care for her cats.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Smith, in 1971.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerry Thomas Smith, to whom she was married September 12, 1970; daughter and son-in-law, April Smith Jones (Keith), Rome; son and daughter-in-law, Chris Smith (Star), Cartersville; sister and brother-in-law, Donna Hicks (Jitter) and brother and sister-in-law, Randy Gilstrap (Ann). Four grandchildren, Chaney Jones, Alex Jones, Kaitlyn Smith and Isaiah Smith a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Calling hours were Sunday.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 14, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Hinkley and Rev. Brandon Bruce officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church will serve as active pallbearers and should meet at the church Monday at 2 p.m.

Camilla Lucille Culberson, 88, of Cave Spring, passed away Saturday afternoon at her residence.
Miss Culberson was born in Floyd County November 6, 1929, a daughter of the later Clifford H. Culberson and the late Eva Mathis Culberson. Miss Culberson was a graduate of Model High School (Class of 47-48) where she played basketball. She retired from Galey and Lord after 49 years of service. An avid bowler, Miss Culberson was a member of the Elliot Sales Team that won the State Championship in 1965. A member of the Cave Spring United Methodist Church, Miss Culberson loved watching the Atlanta Braves and the Atlanta Falcons.
Besides her parents, Miss Culberson was preceded in death by four brothers and their wives, Maurice (Virginia) Culberson, Leon (Willie K.) Culberson, Kenneth (Millie) Culberson, and J. M. (Edna) Culberson; and by one sister, Mrs. Avanelle ( O. C. Jr.) Lam.
Miss Culberson is survived by one sister, Mrs. Patti Yoder of Cave Spring and by one brother, C. Dennis Culberson and his wife Pat of Mooresville, N.C. Also surviving are a number of special nieces and nephews.
Memorial services for Miss Culberson are being planned for Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Cave Spring United Methodist Church with Dr. John Page officiating. The family plans to receive friends at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service hour.

Mr. Joseph Koch, age 75, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at a local hospital.
Mr. Koch was born in Kismaros, Hungary, on November 12, 1942. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving as a submariner during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked as an Optician. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Fletcher Koch in June, 1997. Mr. Koch possessed a tremendous love for soccer as both a player and a spectator.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Koch, Marietta, and Mary Hartman, Rome; a son, Rob Koch, Rome; six grandchildren, Will, Kyle, Lane, Janet, Arden and Roger; honorary family members, Thomas & Nancy Buchanon and their children, Cam & Barbara, as well as all his Hungarian brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Pastor Michael Thomas Young officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Cheatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Marietta with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m.
