Mr. Joseph Koch, age 75, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at a local hospital.
Mr. Koch was born in Kismaros, Hungary on November 12, 1942. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving as a submariner during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked as an Optician. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Fletcher Koch in June, 1997.
Mr. Koch possessed a tremendous love for soccer as both a player and a spectator.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Koch, Marietta, and Mary Hartman, Rome; a son, Rob Koch, Rome; six grandchildren, Will, Kyle, Lane, Janet, Arden and Roger; honorary family members, Thomas & Nancy Buchanon and their children, Cam & Barbara, as well as all his Hungarian brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Pastor Michael Thomas Young officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30pm at Cheatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Marietta with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard presenting military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 6 until 8pm.

Mrs. Bessie Lee Yarbrough Russell, age 83, of Rome, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Russell was born in Armuchee, GA on July 16, 1934, daughter of the late Robert Houston Yarbrough, Sr. and the late Addie Mae Caldwell Yarbrough. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandy Dee Mathis, and by three brothers, William Yarbrough, James Yarbrough and Billy Yarbrough. Mrs. Russell attended Armuchee High School. After being employed as a seamstress with Rome Manufacturing Co. for over 20 years, Mrs. Russell retired from Rome City Schools as a dietary aide after 4 years of employment. She was a member of New Armuchee Baptist Church for approximately 68 years.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Lee Russell, to whom she was married on June 23, 1951; 2 children, Sandra Gail Russell and Timothy Edward Russell, both of Rome; 3 sisters, Elaine Hudgins, Cedartown, Helen Drummond, Rome, and Addie Mae Creamer, Atlanta; 2 brothers, Robert Yarbrough, Jr. (Neoma), Kentucky, and Malcolm Yarbrough (Brenda), Rome; 1 granddaughter, Sandy Lee Mathis (Jerry Johnston0, Hixson, TN; 3 great grandchildren, Tyrese Mathis, Bryan Mathis, and Blake Mathis; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with the Rev. David Howard and the Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Sunday from 4 until 6pm.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Monday at 1:30pm and include: Jerry Johnston, Eddie McAlister, Wayne Yarbrough, Gary Yarbrough, Gary Kellett, Terry Hudgins and Greg Kellett.

Mr. Andrew Clifford “Andy” Walker, age 80, of Rome, GA, passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2018.
Andy was born in Rome on December 19, 1937, son of the late Thomas Tracy Walker and Minnie Estelle Kelley Walker. After graduating from Menlo High School he served in the United States Navy from 1956 until 1958. Andy was then associated with Delta Airlines for a number of years, then worked with AT&T Longlines for several years. He was the owner and operator of Rom Com Inc. and also an electronics instructor at Coosa Valley Tech, retiring in the early 2000’s. Andy was a graduate of University of Georgia and a Christian. He loved old cars, traveling, hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Andy was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas William Walker, and a sister, Martha Nell Johnson.
Andy is survived by two sisters, Betty Ann Walker and Elizabeth Walker; a sister-in-law, Marie Walker. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Andy will be held on Monday morning, May 14, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in the Carl Sidwell Chapel of Salmon Funeral Home with Rev. Mikel Garrett and Mr. Billy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with military rites conferred by the Honor Guard of Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour.
