Changes well under way for the former Los Reyes restaurant in Cartersville along Morningside.

On March 16, a Cartersville tradition for more than 30 years — Los Reyes restaurant at 122 N. Morningside Drive — closed. While the Dalton restaurant remains, the local business that had been in the family for 40 years thanked local customers and said to watch for another option soon (we have emails out on that business and hope to have updates soon).

For now, the Morningside location is undergoing redevelopment. The above photo, courtesy of Bobby Simms, shows extensive work under way. We checked with Cartersville’s planning director and development director, Randy Mannino, who says the building is being divided for two spaces — one for Peachtree Immediate Care and another to be named later.

Bill Miller, chief executive officer of CRH Healthcare, says the company is “taking about 60 percent of that building. Lankford Construction started recently and we will begin in about 60 days with our buildout. We are excited to enter the ┬ámarket and to extend our network north of our Acworth center.”

It is the latest round of development/redevelopment along Morningside, stretching from Aldi to the PetSmart/Ross Dress for Less/Discount Tire (former Kroger) locations.
