The shift is on at Etowah Crossing off Hicks Drive and Turner McCall Boulevard in East Rome. What we don’t know yet is why.
- The Little Caesar’s in East Rome is on the move from 194 Hicks Drive but a manager said Monday night she’s not sure where or when. Employees were telling customers as of Monday evening that they had about two weeks left at the current spot. A new location has been mentioned but nothing is firm. We wonder if Little Caesar’s will up for something with drive-through service akin to what’s available in West Rome.
- Great Clips, now at 192 Hicks Drive, has plans to move to the retail center that is bookended by Goodwill and Dollar Tree. There are a few spots open and the move should take under a week. The question is: Exactly when over the next six to eight weeks. We have calls into the larger center’s leasing agent for additional updates.
- Fastenal, which was on the “Goodwill” end of the small center, left months ago for a spot off Dodd Boulevard about a block from U.S. 411.
The property is part of the assemblage owned by RomeKIM, the firm that held the lease on Kmart. There has been wild speculation about what’s to become of the old retail site but nothing concrete as yet. It remains one of the most asked questions we get at Hometown Headlines and apparently at City Hall and the chamber.
The strip center adjacent to Goodwill has seen some action of late, including the arrive of the Country House Buffet and the pending exit of Stephens Music Co. as it moves to Central Plaza. Also, Aarons moved to 148 Hicks Drive, taking in much of the space formerly used by Tuesday morning.
Several spots remain for lease.
