Mrs. Mary Lou Hulsey Buffington, age 89, of Rome passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at her residence.
Mrs. Buffington was born on July 16, 1928, in Cherokee County, GA, daughter of the late Tommy Roland Hulsey and the late Trannie Atkinson Hulsey.
She grew up in Cherokee and Bartow County. Mrs. Buffington married her husband, Edward Henry Buffington on August 1, 1949, and they lived in the Bartow County area until they moved to Rome in 1964. She was out-going, a spit fire and a big flirt. Granny loved to talk on the phone, laugh, cut up with everyone, and listen to blue grass and old country music. She enjoying working in her flower garden and cooking for family and friends. Granny and Granddaddy also enjoyed going camping and fishing. She was lovingly remembered as always one to count on to take care of you when sickness occurred (she was the first there and the last to leave). She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters and a grandson, Jeremy Selman.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Henry Buffington, Rome; four children, Roy Buffington (Esther), Aragon, Kathy Bray (Michael), Calhoun, Ricky Buffington (Delene), Rome, Amber Birdsong, Rome; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Max Tucker officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.
Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home on Wednesday by 10:30 a.m. and include Kevin Bray, Matt Buffington, Jason Buffington, Zack Birdsong, Nic Bray and Chris Patterson.
Mr. Bobby Dean Lindsey Sr., age 80. of Lindale, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Lindsey was born in Kingston, Ga., on October 11, 1937, son of the late Roy Clifford Lindsey and the late Bertie Hammonds Lindsey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Elizabeth White Lindsey, and by six siblings. Mr. Lindsey was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, Mr. Lindsey owned and operated Lindsey Plumbing for several years.
Survivors include four daughters, Robbie Abrams and her husband, Bobby, Silver Creek; Pam Walker, Lindale, Janie Lindsey, Lindale, and Donna Lindsey, Lindale; two sons, Bobby Dean Lindsey Jr., Lindale, and Kevin Todd Lindsey, Lindale; two sisters, Marie Cromer, and his twin sister, Betty Costlow; a brother, Rev. Donald Lindsey; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Donald Lindsey, the Rev. Jackson Davis and the Rev. Don Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at 1:30 p.m. and include: Chad Cline, Dustin Lindsey, David Money Jr., Tyler Smith, Brian Barcomb and Craig Easterwood.
Donald Johnson Cox went home to be with the lord on April 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Don was born in Chattooga County, Ga. August 23, 1931, and was raised in the Berryton Community. He was preceded in death by his parents Georgia and Shamblin Cox and his sister Sally Treadaway and husband Claude.
He joined the United States Navy at the age 17, and served in the Pacific Region during the Korean War. Don retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #72, after a long and successful career as a pipefitter. He attended Garden Lakes Baptist Church for many years and developed many cherished friendships there.
Most of all, Don was an extremely devoted family man. He was a dedicated and loving husband to wife Patsy Cox to whom he was married for more than 47 years. Don enjoyed hosting family and friend gatherings at his home where he prepared and shared many good meals. Don never met a stranger and he believed no story should be left untold. He enjoyed talking to people and sharing his stories wherever he went. Don was a proud member of the Shorter Avenue Krystal breakfast Club, where he would be found most mornings, sharing a story and a meal with his treasured friends.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Pasty Price Cox, daughters, Luanne Early, Michelle (David) Stewart, son Todd (Michele) Penny, nephew, Bruce (Diane) Price, grandchildren, Amanda Early, Grace and Sam Stewart, Madelin Rose and A.J. Penny, and Jamie Horton, he was proud great grandfather to Katie, Kenlan, Tyler, and Matthew, several special cousins, and his beloved dog Bilbo who misses him greatly.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday April 11, 2018 at Garden Lakes Baptist Church, with Dr. Jimmy Gentry, and Dr. Dan Whitaker, officiating. Interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, in Canton, Ga. on Thursday. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour on Wednesday at Garden Lakes Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Garden Lakes Baptist Church, 2200 Redmond Cir. Rome, Ga. 30165 and to the Rome Floyd Humane Society 518, Broad Street, Rome, Ga. 30161.

Ms. Joy Maureen Gibson, 81, of Cave Spring, died Sunday afternoon, April 8, 2018, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness.
Ms. Gibson was born in Houston, Texas, October 5, 1936, a daughter of the late Maurice Bryant Gibson, and the late Gladys Fern Gibson. Ms. Gibson was a graduate of the Texas School for the Deaf and also of Gallaudet College, and was associated with Georgia School for the Deaf as the librarian for a number of years prior to her retirement.
