The Rome Chapter of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Civil Service Employees will have its monthly meeting at the Landmark Restaurant on Martha Berry Highway in Rome on Thursday, April 12, starting at 11:15 a.m. and lasting until about 1 p.m. The guest speaker at this month meeting will be Brandon Ekey, Commander, Rome-Floyd County Drug Task Force.The local chapter is concentrating on its member recruiting and retention efforts. The monthly luncheon meeting are open to all current federal civil service employees in Northwest Georgia who want to learn what NARFE stands for and the organization’s on-going fight for the right and benefits of current and retired federal civil service employees. All current and retired federal civil service employees have the right, and are encouraged to become members of NARFE, for through membership current and future members will be able to obtain many answers as they pertain to their earned rights and privileges. Meeting attendees will always receive the latest news regarding federal civil service matters and retirement data, as well as changes to Social Security. The League of Women Voters Rome-Floyd County, will host Kay Ann Wetherington in her nonpartisan bid for Superior Court Judge. Please join us for a Q&A during our regular meeting April 19, 6 p.m, at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, Daniels Hall. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government and community. Emily Matson, also on the May 22 ballot for the judgeship, spoke to the league during the March meeting.
