Mr. Carl McCullough, age 81, of Cedartown, Ga. transitioned April 6, 2018. Celebration Of Life will be Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church in Cedartown. Mr. McCullough will lie in repose from 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will take place Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Cemetery, 2275 Joseph E. Mr. Ted Little Edwards Sr., age 78, of Armuchee, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Edwards was born in Chattooga County on January 10, 1940, son of the late Benjamin Franklin Edwards and the late Carrie Kathleen Smiley Edwards. Prior to his retirement, he was parts manager at Rhinehart Equipment Company. He was a member of the Floyd Springs Baptist Church and a member of the Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 F. & A. M.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sarah Jane Gilliland, to whom he was married on July 29, 1962; 3 sons, Ted Edwards, Jr., and his wife, Tina, Armuchee, David Edwards, and his wife Leann, Lindale, and Thomas Edwards, Armuchee; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Comer, and her husband, Christian, Blake Edwards, Dawson Edwards, Megan Edwards, Josey Edwards, and her fiancé, Tyler Whitlock, Aubrie Edwards, and Weston Conner Edwards; 2 step-grandchildren, Rachel and Emily Phipps; 3 great grandchildren, Blakely and Emmy Comer and Tate Whitlock; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2pm at Floyd Springs Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Izell will officiate. Interment will follow in Floyd Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Floyd Springs Lodge #167 F. & A. M. in charge of graveside rites.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel on Monday from 5 until 7 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence of a son, Ted Edwards, Jr., 25 Ashley Oaks Trail, Rome.
Pallbearers serving are asked to assemble at Floyd Springs Baptist Church on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and include: Dawson Edwards, Blake Edwards, Ralph Vanpelt, Steve Swords, Christian Comer and John Edwards.
There will be a call communication of the Floyd Springs Masonic Lodge #167 at 1 p.m. on Tuesday for the purpose of attending the funeral service for Mr. Edwards.
Mr. William Thomas Hand Jr., age 92, of Rome, passed away Saturday morning, April 7, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Hand was born in Adairsville, GA on February 12, 1926, son of the late William Thomas Hand Sr. and the late Martha Jefferson Hand. He was also preceded in death by his wife, the former Ethel Jeanette Yarbrough, by a son, Jackie Hand, by a sister, Mary Mulkey, and by 2 brothers, Walter and John Arthur Hand. Mr. Hand was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Horizon Carpets in Calhoun, following many years in the textile industry. He was a member of American Legion Post #136 in Lindale and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Judy Layne, and her husband, Greg, Cedar Bluff, AL, Patsy Johnson, and her husband, David, Chatsworth, and Donna Bates, and her husband, John, Cedar Bluff, AL; 5 sons, Larry Hand, and his wife, Vicki, Silver Creek, Danny Hand, Rome, David Hand, and his wife, Daphne, Calhoun, Barry Hand, Yorkville, and Gary Hand, Rome; a sister, Lethonie Richards, Canton; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 9, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the graveside in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jerry Brooks will officiate with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard extending military honors.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Monday from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m.
Pallbearers are requested to assemble at the funeral home on Monday at 2 p.m. and include: Jeff Hand, Steven Hand, Kirklyn Layne, Chris Layne, Craig Layne, Daniel Johnson, Melvin Highfield and Shawn Hand.
Frances Elaine Davis Hicks, age 73, of Tallapoosa, passed away Saturday April 7, 2018 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Hicks was born October 19, 1944, in Warner Robbins, a daughter of the late George Davis and Bessie Haynes Davis.
Survivors include, Roman H. Hicks, Jr. sons, Roman H. Hicks, III, Chamblee; Jesse Hicks, Buchannan; daughters, Angela White, Lilburn; Jennifer Wise, Loganville; sisters, Betty Diehl, Byron; Shirley Field, Springhill FL: 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Hicks will be held at a later date.
