From Floyd County: “On Oct.  20, four Floyd County Sheriff’s Officers went above the call of duty in assisting a woman giving birth in the parking lot of the Floyd County Judicial Center. Deputy Jason Pearce was notified of a woman in distress, lying in the parking lot. Upon his arrival, he found the woman giving birth and the baby was already on the way. Moments later, a little boy arrived. After clearing the baby’s airway, the baby began crying and breathing on its own. Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and the mother and child were transported to Floyd Medical Center. Assisting Pearce until emergency services arrived were Capt. Dave Roberson, Lt. Jody House and Deputy Dennis Noles. The Floyd County Commission would like to recognize and commend these officers for their actions on this day. “
