Mr. Marshall Freeman Brock, age 79, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at a local healthcare facility following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Brock was born in Rome, Georgia, on May 26, 1938, son of the late Buddie Marshall Brock and the late Eula Mae Bridges Brock.  Mr. Brock was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force.  Prior to retirement, he worked for a number of years at West Point Pepperell Manufacturing where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.  He was a member of the Armuchee Church of God.  Mr. Brock loved his family and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bessie Sharpe Brock, to whom he was married on November 8, 1958;  two daughters, Darlene Godfrey and her husband, Lamar, Rome, and Carol Osborn and her husband, Fred, Rome; five grandsons, Matthew Godfrey and his wife, Shannon, Rome, Alex Thomas and his wife, Destiny, Rockmart, Andrew Thomas, Rome, Chad Osborn, Rome, and Brandon Osborn, Athens; six great grandchildren, Sterling, Daelyn & Makenley Godfrey, Rome, and Aiden, Wyatt & Baylee Thomas, Rockmart; a sister, Janice Cescutti, Rome; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 2pm at Armuchee Church of God with the Rev. Charles Izell officiating.  Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel, on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m.  At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence of Darlene and Lamar Godfrey.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and include:  Ronald Cescutti Jr., Matthew Godfrey, Alex Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Keith Pettyjohn and Kevin Pettyjohn.

Mr. Bobby Ray Haynes, age 83, of Lindale, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, in a local hospital.

Mr. Haynes was born in Calhoun County, AL on January 18, 1935, son of the late Joseph Wesley Haynes and the late Sally Lou Sanders Haynes.  He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Avaline Boyd, Mildred Mitchell, and Audrey Henson, and by 3 brothers, Joe, John, and Milton Haynes.  Prior to his retirement, Mr. Haynes was employed with Profile Extrusion here in Rome for over 31 years.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, the former Johnette Justice, to whom he was married on April 6, 1989; 3 sons, Ray Haynes, Rome, Wesley Allen Haynes, Rome, and David Wayne Haynes, and his wife, Sharon, Iron City, AL; 2 step-daughters, Darlene Stansell Sullins, and her husband, Robbie, Silver Creek, and Kim Russell, and her husband, Chyanne, Rome; a sister, Dorothy Walker, Eastaboga, AL; special friends, Hugo and Iris Veliz, and their children, Melvin and Bianca, Lindale; 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Chyanne Russell officiating.  Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.  At other times, they may be contacted at the residence.

Pallbearers will include the following gentlemen:  Ray Haynes, Allen Haynes, Kiefer Collum, Sam Russell, Cal Russell, Hugo Veliz, Jeremy Haynes, Melvin Veliz and Tony Amos.

Mrs. Loraine Keith Campbell, age 96, of Rome passed away Sunday February 11, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Campbell was born August 12, 1921, to the late Joseph Henry Keith and Lula Mae Thomas Keith. She was married to Alton Dee Campbell for 75 years and was preceded in death by Mr. Campbell July 29, 2014, and by her son, Daniel Keith Campbell on September 15, 2008. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Cedar Creek Baptist and was an honorary member of Community Chapel Baptist Church where she attended for the past two years, She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.

Survivors include her sibling and their spouses, Mrs. Eva Jo Gresham, Mr. J. C. (Nellie Jo) Keith, Mr. Allen (Patsy) Keith, Mrs. Dorothy Terry, Mrs. Jean Sims, Mrs. Gala (Travis) Rosser, special daughter in love, Sandra “Sandy” Ancell, and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday February 14, 2018, in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, with Rev. Max Tucker, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of service on Wednesday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include the following gentlemen and are asked to meet at funeral home on Wednesday by 1:30 p.m. Gary Padgett, Steve Guthrie, Cory Atkins, Ray Rosser Shane Atkins, Dylan Akins, Jim Kelly and Joseph Grigsby. Honorary pallbearers, Kyle Rush, and Jason Rush.

Abigail Katherine Suits, infant daughter of Chris Suits and Gabbie Leffew of Rome, passed away Friday February 9, 2018.

Survivors other than her parents, brother, Andrew Suits, sister, Ava Lynn Leffew, grandparents, Jill and Matthew Bell, David Leffew, Vickie Brown, uncle and aunts, Cody, and Rebecca Wood, and Brandenlyn Martin.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Danny Wade officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.

Edith E Houts, 101, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2018. Miller & Richards Oaknoll Funeral Chapel.

Ms. Shelia Marie Carleton, age 80, of Plainville, Ga., passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018.

Shelia was born in Winchester, MA, on January 20, 1938, daughter of the late Frank Nagle Carleton and Margaret Lally Parker Carleton.  She had been a resident of Plainville and Floyd County for the past seven years, moving here from Bradenton, FL.  Shelia was an accomplished artist, a licensed real estate agent and loved gardening and painting.  She was involved with homeless ministries and was always helping others.  Shelia was a devoted Christian and had attended several local churches, most recently, Glory Tabernacle.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Carleton, and a sister, Ann Carleton.

Shelia is survive d by a daughter, LeeLee Myer of Bradenton; two sons and a daughter-in-0law, Scott and Judy Brinckerhoff of Bufford, GA, and Peter Brinckerhoff of Lake Tahoe, NV; three grandsons, Parker, Blake and Chase Myer; one sister, Jane Carleton of Barnstable, MA; three brothers, William “Bill” Carleton of Scottsdale, AZ, John Carleton of Olympia, WA, and Rick Carleton of Cape Cod, MA; a son-in-law, Bruce Myer of Sarasota, FL; and a special friend, Tammy Gore of Plainville.

A memorial reception for Shelia will be held on Saturday afternoon, February 24, 2018, at 1 p.m. in the family room of Salmon Funeral Home.

Ms. Annie Jo Riddle, 84, of Rome, Georgia passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at local hospital surrounded by the love of her family.

Services for Ms. Annie Jo Riddle are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.
