7 p.m. Hazardous Weather Outlook: Widespread showers will continue to impact Northern and Western Georgia through tonight. Locally heavy rainfall will be the primary threat, with a Flood Watch remaining in effect mainly along and north of a line from Fort Benning to Covington to Danielsville. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible, with a few thunderstorms possibly becoming strong to severe. Any thunderstorm that becomes severe will be capable of producing isolated damaging wind gusts or a weak, brief tornado. Patchy dense fog will also be possible through tomorrow morning, with the potential of becoming widespread.

OUTLOOK

The National Weather Service has issued flood watch for all of Northwest Georgia and other parts of the state through 7 p.m. Sunday. Heavy rains will spread over Georgia Saturday and continue through Sunday night. Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible with isolated higher amounts, especially in the higher terrain of the mountains. These rainfall amounts will likely lead to flooding. * Rivers and creeks remain high from recent rainfall and the smaller basins will be quick to respond to high rainfall rates and associated runoff, particularly over north Georgia.

Latest rainfall totals (as of 7 p.m. Saturday):

  • Rome: 0.38 of an inch of rain since 10 p.m. Friday.
  • Cartersville: 0.34 of an inch of rain since 10 p.m. Friday.
