Renee Lanham, the owner of Hair Benders salon at 520 Broad St., has been charged with the September murder of her husband, Eddie, from last September, according to Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader. His news release:
On Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at approximately 8 a.m., investigators with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office along with special agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Susan Renee Lanham, 52, of Butler Dairy Road in relation to the shooting death of her husband, Eddie Lanham.
Mr. Lanham was shot to death in September of 2017 at his residence in what was made to look like a burglary.
‘My investigators and the Agents of the GBI have been thoroughly examining and collecting evidence in this case since we became involved with it. Just like in any case, they have followed the evidence and it has led them to Renee Lanham as the person who planned the murder of her husband and saw to it that those plans were followed through with.’
The investigation will continue. ‘I am extremely satisfied with the work the investigators and GBI agents have done and I’m glad to be able to bring a little closure to the rest of Mr. Lanham’s family.”
Susan Renee Lanham has been booked into the Chattooga County Jail and is charged with one count of each Murder, Aggravated Assault, Conspiracy to commit murder and Solicitation to commit murder.
About Eddie Lanham: Initial reports say he was shot multiple times in what first was thought to have been a burglary. According to his obituary:
Mr. Edward Earl “Eddie” Lanham, age 75, of Summerville, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017.
Mr. Lanham was born in Cartersville, GA on March 16, 1942, son of the late Elmer Earl Lanham and the late Laura Beatrice Teague Lanham. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. A longtime local cosmetologist, Mr. Lanham co-owned and operated Hair Benders here in Rome. He also owned and operated Eddie and Company, a home building company. Mr. Lanham was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, the former Renee Hughes, to whom he was married on May 10, 1989; 2 daughters, Stephanie Parris, Hiram, and Lorrie Harris, and her husband, Phil, Tellico Plains, TN; a son, Earl Lanham, and his wife, Kim, Cartersville; a brother, Jimmy Ray Lanham, Summerville; a grandson, Austin Wyatt, and his wife, Savanna, Cartersville; 2 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
