Mr. Lowe Ellis (L.E.) McMichen, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mr. McMichen was born in Floyd County on March 18, 1935, son of the late, Ray Vaughn McMichen and the late, Lillian Beatrice Crowe McMichen. He had been an employee of the Celanese Fibers for over seven years and later retired from the Floyd County Board of Education after serving as a custodian and bus driver for the Glenwood Elementary and Armuchee High Schools.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a member of the Lindale Church of God of Prophecy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Elizabeth Redden McMichen, by two children, Donna Leah McMichen Brown, and Charles Edward McMichen, and by a granddaughter, Kristi Michelle Cosper.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice McMichen Smith, (Harry) Lindale; a son, Rickey Lee McMichen, Rome; a brother, Chester McMichen, Rome; 2 grandchildren. Autumn LaDawn Hughes and Kelly Lyn Craig; great grandchildren, Jameson, Jackson, Robin, Gavin, Dawson, Wesley, Cheyenne, Judson, Skye, Taylor, Aaron, Rosie, Jett and Jasper; a great great grandchild, Carsen; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018. The Rev. Leonard Crawford and the Rev. Bert Brooks will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mountain Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. At other hours, they may be contacted at each of their respective residences.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and include Jason Cross, Michael Cross, Jerry Gurley, Ricky Boatwright, Rodney Atkisson and Tim Godfrey.
Mr. James William Gibson Sr., age 66, of Kingston, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018.
Mr. Gibson was born in Calhoun on January 30, 1952, son of the late Fayboyd Gibson and the late Myrtle Evelyn Pearson Gibson. He was retired from the Local 515 where he had worked for many years and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, the former Rita Faye Hardigree to whom he was married on February 5, 1974, 3 daughters, Sonia Vinson (Paul), Kingston, Mandy Stewart (Freddie), Kingston and Kim Gibson (Robbie Phillips), Summerville; 2 sons, James William Gibson Jr. (Kristy), Silver Creek and Devyn Gibson (Taylor), Calhoun; 3 sisters, Annie Mae Suits, Rome, Gwinnell Temple, Calhoun and Norma Moon (Robert), Rome; 2 brothers, Charles Gibson(Carol), Rome and Danny Ray Gibson (Shirley), Kingston; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev. Jackson Davis and the Rev. Paul Vinson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Floyd Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Hancock Hubbard, age 80, of Rome passed away Saturday February 3, 2018, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Hubbard was born November 1, 1937, in Cave Spring, Ga. a daughter of the late Robert Hancock, and Nathaleen Purdy Hancock. She was a member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Hubbard was retired from the Piggy Wiggly in North Rome after 17 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband. Hugh Lee Hubbard, a brother. William Bradford Hancock.
Survivors include her daughters, Lea Ann (Richard) Edwards, Rome; Anita Lynn (Jeff) Pope, Silver Creek; grandchildren, Cody, Matthew, Joshua, and William Edwards, Kiersten Simpson, and Huston Pope, great grandchildren, Colton Edwards, and Heidi Simpson, special friends, Charles and Sandra Browder, Randloph Oswalt, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Clyde Robert Davis, age 83, of Rome passed away Friday February 2, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Davis was born April 21, 1934, in Osage City, Kansas, a son of the late Merna A. Davis, and Mary Elizabeth Watson Davis. He was a Communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Mr. Davis was retired from Prudential Life Insurance Company after 30 years service, a veteran of the United States Army.
Mr. Davis hobbies was golfing, gardening he was known as the tomato man, his grandchildren was his life he lived for his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Davis, sisters, Lucille Christiason, Elizabeth Burris, Loretta Turner, Imogene Obermeir, Wilma Hambleton, brothers, Phillip Davis, Wayne Davis, Owen Davis, and his twin, Clifford Davis.
Survivors include his wife Leota R. Whalen Davis, daughters, Tina (Ken) Bruce, Traci (David) Ray, grandchildren, Britney Maner, Kaitlyn “Katie” Stanfield, Haley Ray, Bryce Ray, great grandchild, Davis Maner, several special nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday February 6, 2018 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mac McCurry officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, with Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor Guard conducting full military honors.
