-Darlington boys were ranked no. 12 as of Monday with a 12-9 record. Boys

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Two new head football coaches were approved by the Floyd County Board of Education during Tuesday’s caucus and regular meeting.

Jeremy Green was named head football coach at Armuchee High. Armuchee’s media briefing with Green is at 3:30 this afternoon with the community meeting starting at 4:30 p.m. Green most recently was defensive coordinator at 5A Cass.

At Model, Richard Ross is the Blue Devil’s new head coach.  Model will hold a media briefing at 10:45 this morning with a community meet-and-greet at 5:30 p.m. Ross spent last season as defensive coordinator at 3A Sonoraville High.

COLLEGE BASKETBALLParsons Earns Second SAA Player of the Week Nod

Berry’s Parsons earns second Player of the Week honor. Berry’s Eveline Parsons again has been selected as the Southern Athletic Association’s  Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Parsons averaged 22.5 points and shot 51.9 percent from the field, leading Berry to a 2-0 week. Vikings

  • Georgia Highlands: Lady Chargers get the win over Albany Tech 65-53. Men: The Chargers roll to a 85-55 win over the Titans of Albany Tech. Next: GHC men’s, women’s teams play cancer awareness game. The women will start at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
